The Palmerston North Taekwondo Academy is enjoying success upon success upon success according to head instructor Dave xxx. The club has been consistently achieving great results with the most recent a successful trip to the Taekwondo World Champs, student Alicia yyy being inducted into the inaugural Taekwondo Hall of Fame and great results at a recent grading day. "Personally as the instructor of the academy I take so much pride in what all the students are achieving and I think within the club itself there is a lot of pride as well with what is being achieved." Recently a cup grading was held where students undergo grading to progress tot he next level. "We had 13 students on the floor grading on the day and they all passed but we had two who double graded (good enough to skip a grade) and eight had A passes." He says the regional A pass average was just over 30 percent. "so we were considerably higher than that. It was a fantastic result probably our best grading." Dave believes the club cultivates a culture of success because of the positive environment it offers. "But ut's also a very helpful environment. At all levels you have students helping students because that all adds to the strength of the club." And he says students not only help within the club. "There is a willingness to do other things a part of the club within the organisation." He says this includes hosting tournaments and helping at grading days. The Palmerston North Taekwondo Academy also has a huge amount of history. "We are recognised as the first club in New Zealand starting in 1970. So there is a huge amount of history to be proud of." The academy has around 40 registered members is new members are always welcome. The club offers eight free lessons to anyone interested in joining.
