The exercises appearing in this section are aimed at a student writing phrases and clauses of variious kinds to get used to building multi-clause structured sentneces - bit by bit -

Sentences

The purpose of this section is two-fold - to demonstrate the correct use of sets of words and to provide exercises in constructing sentences containing more than one phrase or clause.

Understanding

The exercises here give a list of words. In the same kind of sense as the sentences with missing words in the homophone section of exercises - this time, however, it is up to the student to write sentences conveying the meaning of the words indicated. In some cases parentheses are used to indicate that a student should try to use the word in the number of different meanings indicated by the number in the parentheses.
