Numeracy Exercises

This section of the exercises on this web site provides links to numeracy examples and problems. We have used the common definition of numeracy as being the ability to manipulate numbers and other values using arithmetic operations of all kinds. To this we have added a section dealing with simple algebra in order to permit solution of problems such as "How many fruit can I get for ten dollars if apples are three to the dollar, pears four to the dollar and oranges five to the dollar? I want at least ten of each kind."

There are, therefore, effectively three complementary groups of exercises for all of which answer sheets are (or will be as development continues) available -

Separate indices for each of these categories of problem are to be found by clicking on the buttons below. At the time of writing there are only some forty sets of exercises. This will, however, grow as further groups of exercises are developed.
