This document acts as introduction to and index for the exercises on this site involving logarithms and exponents of real numbers. They are a straightforward extension to the simple use of real numbers not involving logarithms and act as a link to the next section of exercises dealing with complex numbers.
Each of the following sub-sections consists of ten sets of individual exercises aimed at the student who is familiar and comfortable with the use of real numbers. Students who do not have such a facility should not be asked to do the exercises described here -
- Simple Logarithms - the simple use of base 10 logarithms as an additive function to evaluate multiplicative expressions - NOT YET AVAILABLE!
- Exponentiation - the relation between logarithms and exponentiation again using base 10 logarithms - NOT YET AVAILABLE!
- Natural Logarithms - the introduction of e and natural logarithms to the base e - NOT YET AVAILABLE!
- Different Bases - introduction of base 2 logarithms as often used in computing, as well as the general concept of number bases - NOT YET AVAILABLE!
- Expression Evaluation - a range of expression evaluations involving all sorts of logarithmic and exponential functions and operators - NOT YET AVAILABLE!
